Multiple Bed and Cab Sizes

The Colorado is only offered in crew cab four-door configuration and a 5’1” bed length. All of the other trucks, however, offer different-sized cabs and beds for customers. The Silverado and Silverado HD are available in either Regular, Double, or Crew Cab configurations.

The regular cab is simply two doors with up to three seats, while the double cab has two normal-sized front doors and two smaller rear doors for rear passengers. The crew cab is the largest cab size with four full-sized doors and seating for up to six passengers, including the driver.

One reason buyers may want a double cab is that they rarely carry passengers, and if they do, it’s mainly a dog or two. When passengers do need to sit in the back, they will have 35.2 inches of rear legroom. Crew cab Chevy trucks have a total of 43.4 inches of rear legroom.

Silverado models are exclusively offered as crew cabs with four doors and a total of 44.3 inches of rear legroom.

Different Bed Lengths

When it comes to bed length, there is a range of differences between the trucks. As previously mentioned, the mid-size Colorado offers a bed that is 61.7 inches long, or 5 feet and 1 inch. The Silverado 1500 model is available with three different bed lengths:

  • Short Bed – 69.92 inches / 5’8”
  • Standard Bed – 79.44 inches / 6’6”
  • Long Bed – 98.18 inches / 8’1”

The Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD lines of trucks offer just two bed sizes:

  • Standard Bed – 82.25 inches / 6’8”
  • Long Bed – 98.27 inches / 8’1”

The Silverado EV truck has a standard bed length of 5’9” or 70.8 inches. However, the EV truck can be optioned with the revolutionary Multi-Flex Midgate that has a passthrough feature that allows the separation between the bed and the cab to be folded flat to give owners up to 10’10” of bed length, or 121.2 inches.
